Hanukkah Menorah made from recycled materials

Hanukkah Menorah from recycled materials

Very soon, at the beginning of December, Jewish people around the world will be celebrating the holiday of Hanukkah. Candles, Hanukiyot (Hanukkah Menorahs / Hanukkah lamps), doughnuts and dreidels (spinning tops) are being sold everywhere in Israel.

And like every year during Hanukkah, in schools and kindergartens are being held Hanukkah Menorah contests, where children present home-made Hanukiyot. This year my kids were proposed to make a Hanukiah from recycled materials. We decided to use discarded Kinder Surprise containers, old marker pens and hot glue for this purpose. The resulting product can be seen in the photo above.

Candles made from markers and quilling

The candles were made from discarded markers. As usual, paper quilling was involved, too. We used it to make the flame. This Hanukkah Menorah measures about 10 3/8 inches (26.5 cm) in height, exclusive of the candles. Total height is about 15 1/4 inches (38.5 cm).

The list of other Hanukkah crafts we made can be found in my Hanukkah crafts article.

Happy Hanukkah! חג אורים שמח

У всех есть горы пустых фломастеров и десятки пустых "киндеров", и только вы смогли сделать такую изящную вещь. Чудесно!

Hi Inna, I hope you are well. I'm guest posting on a design website called curbly.com....and was looking everywhere for good chanukiahs, without much luck, then fortunately I remembered your peacock version from last year, and see you've got some more great ones this year! So I'm going to give you some major press, I hope you get lots of traffic from it, you deserve it! And do stop by my blog! All the very best, Sara from creativejewishmom.com
