Quilled moth and flowers in a shadowbox

I'm back to quilling flowers. I know it may sound strange, but the starting point for this work has been a black shadowbox frame I bought once. This frame was just begging to be used for quilling. It's a square frame, 9x9 inch (23x23cm), so a circle layout seemed to be a natural choice for the composition. Once again I've got the inspiration from a Helen M. Stivens' book. This time it was "Embroidered Flowers". I used it to create a design of my own, made a sketch, and set to work.

I planned a black background, but didn't have a suitable paper. Fortunately, my husband found a piece of black velours self-adhesive foil, which looks and feels like velvet.
You can see here 7 species of flowers: Lily of the Valley (Convallaria), Foxglove (Digitalis), Fuchsia, Dandelion, Violet, Petunia and Rose. I also added a quilled hawk moth, one of my favorites, to this work.

When making the dandelion I used embossing to add dimension to its leaf, and the fringed flower technique for the flowers. The big leaves of the Lily of the Valley have been made with husking, its tiny flowers, as well as the foxglove flowers, — using 3-D quilling techniques. This time I've decided to make simple spiral roses as opposed to folded roses, I think they look more natural and delicate on this piece.

The velours was mounted on a piece of thick cardboard. To attach the quilled elements I used white craft glue (PVA), as always. I have to emphasize here, that you must be super-careful when gluing quilling shapes on to velours, because every tiny blob of glue stands out against such a background.

I'd like also to mention that for this work I used both pre-cut (received them eventually) and hand-cut strips.

И очень хочу попросить Вас о них рассказать подробнее. Вы не только сделать умеете, но и рассказать об этом просто и понятно. Как у таких маленьких цветов край изогнутый получился?! Они как живые....! Катя
This is very very beautiful.
